In late Spring 2016, we discussed with the Sheriff’s department the need for a neighborhood watch program for the Fieldstone community. A representative from the Sheriff’s department met with a board member and decided that the program would be beneficial for the neighborhood and the surrounding communities of Stonechase and Summerfield. This program would aid in the prevention of crime by having residents of these communities actively involved in the observing and reporting of criminal activity to the local authorities. This volunteer based community oriented patrol program will be the eyes/ears for the Sheriff’s department while networking to build strong neighborhood bonds.

There are two capacities that residents could become involved in this exciting program:

  • Block captains– leaders who attend occasional meetings, communicate with the coordinator of the neighborhood watch program, maintain a list of watch members under them and report criminal activity.
  • Watch members– individuals who attend occasional meetings, report criminal activity, practice safety measures, and support the block captains.

Our expectation is to have residents from all phases involved in this program. There is no experience or qualifications necessary to join the Neighborhood watch program. You will receive all training from qualified individuals and be comfortable in the role you choose to be part of. Residents of the same household are welcome to join! If you are interested in the opportunity to make our neighborhood safe and welcoming, please email neighbors@fieldstonecommunity.org or call (812) 287-9800.
